Chrysler presents the Halcyon concept | Car news

For over a year, when thinking about Chrysler’s electric future, we had to turn to the Airflow concept. The latter was to represent the future of the brand in terms of design.

Finally, Airflow has been replaced by the Halcyon concept. Now he is the one who shows us the long-term vision of the company. If the car has more futuristic lines, it is more from production than the Airflow concept was. This is confusing.

And what is clear is that we will not see a production version of Halcyon. This study provides a number that is usually that of models whose purpose is to provide a stylistic direction, not to indicate the model of the future.

If there is good news, it is that we are dealing with a car and not an SUV.

In terms of design, we allow you to admire the future lines of this product. What’s really surprising is these great opportunities that come from the existence of doors that are set against resistance… and float a little higher, like butterfly doors.

On board, the presentation is very refined. So much so that what we find is a steering wheel with a large screen arranged vertically and oriented at 45 degrees. We can see that the latter can lie down and that it connects together the touch keys that represent the selection of the gear ratio.

At the back, the seats can be folded back into the cargo area. Chrysler is talking about a future approach to the Stow ‘n Go system that has become popular with the brand’s small cars.

And obviously, technology is in the spotlight, especially with the biometric recognition system for welcoming the owner or driver.

Of course we have no information on the power train, but Chrysler is talking about an 800-volt architecture. The concept integrates lithium-sulfur batteries, which reduce the carbon footprint by 60% compared to current, more efficient batteries.

Finally, the study’s interior features 95 percent sustainable materials, including Chrysler logos made from recycled compact discs.

What will be seen is the continuation of things and the model that this time will show us the future version of production. Chrysler needs new products to hope to survive.
