The 45-year-old man was seriously injured in the accident. The driver of the van, two drivers and a passenger in one of the vehicles suffered minor injuries. Rescue workers took the victims to nearby hospitals. A rescue helicopter was also used.

The federal highway and the A9 entrance had to be closed for several hours while the accident was investigated. Police reopened the area around 3:30 am.

Material damage is around 140,000 euros.
