The Cupra Leon can now also be ordered as a diesel. The 2.0 TDI offers 150 hp and is available from 35,730 euros. It is available as a five-door and as a sports tourer.
Cupra, originally the sports label of Volkswagen’s Spanish subsidiary, is growing into a versatile brand. The Formentor, currently the only standalone Cupra model without a Seat counterpart, is available in ten engine and transmission variants. Cupra Leon is not just a “Hot Hatch”. Recently, the 1.5 TSI with a manual gearbox and as a mild hybrid (eTSI) with a dual-clutch gearbox was also introduced with the 190 hp performance level of the 2.0 TSI.
Diesel with 150 hp from 35,730 euros
Now the Cupra Leon can also be ordered as a diesel for the first time. The five-door sports tourer (estate) is available as a TDI with a 110 kW / 150 hp diesel. In addition to the six-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed DSG is also available as an option.
In conjunction with a double clutch box, the five-door compact diesel accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and has a top speed of 212 km/h. The sports tourer needs 9.0 seconds to run up to highway speed. Due to the slightly better aerodynamics of the long roof, its maximum speed is 213 km / h. The manufacturer specifies consumption according to the WLTP standard as 4.8 – 5.0 liters of diesel per 100 km.
Cupra Leon 2.0 TDI five-door available from 35,730 euros, DSG costs 1,800 euros extra. The Leon Sportstourer is available from 37,335 euros in list price and in configuration. This means that the Cupra Leon Diesel is not more expensive than its Kiti-badged counterpart.
More Cupra, less Seat
The Seat Leon 2.0 TDI is available from 34,810 euros in the FR Plus equipment line, which, among other things, sticks to the Cupra with 18-inch rims, three-zone automatic air conditioning and digital instruments.
While the Cupra program is growing, the Seat is being reduced further. The base reference cannot be reordered for Leon. Prices for the Leon model as a three-cylinder petrol engine of 110 hp start at 26,170 euros. 2.0 TSI is 190 hp can no longer be ordered from Seat.
The range of engines for the Cupra Leon has been expanded to include the 150 hp 2.0 TDI. It costs from 35,730 euros. With a personal ignition, sales strategists are likely to set their sights primarily on fleet customers.
