Mitsubishi EV SUV: Another Renault supporter for Europe

Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi continues to rely on its partner Renault to expand its model range to Europe. After the Colt and ASX models, which are based on the Renault Clio and Captur models, an electric SUV with Renault genes will also be available from 2025.

Mitsubishi as a Renault-Klon

Renault boss Luca de Meo had already announced in November 2023 that Renault will develop a small electric Mitsubishi SUV at its plant in Douai based on the group’s AmpR Medium (formerly CMF-EV) platform. As part of the press conference, Mitsubishi has now released the first teaser image of the upcoming electric SUV.

This only shows a very dark silk, but it is enough to identify the next Mitsubishi as a sibling of the Renault Scenic E-Tech. There are only deviations in front and back. Here the Japanese will adjust the design to their brand specifications in their usual way.

In the Japanese portfolio, the Scenic E-Tech clone could replace the Eclipse Cross, which is currently only available with a hybrid drivetrain.

Mitsubishi wants to add a compact electric SUV to its European portfolio. It should appear as a companion to the Renault Scenic E-Tech from 2025.
