8-12 Working Hours Set For GMC Junior Doctors

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Gandhi Medical College (GMC) principals and medical college professors are at loggerheads over the 8-12-hour work schedule (roster system) for junior doctors. GMC principal Kavita N Singh said, “The rostering system has been completed for residents and we have fixed 8 to 12 hour work with weekly breaks for students. It will reduce pressure and promote a good work culture.”

JUDA General Secretary Dr Kuldeep Gupta said, “In the college council meeting, the GMC chief has fixed working hours to 8-12 for PG students. Junior doctors will also get weekly concession.” Insisting that it is training for junior doctors like commando training, the president of the Association of Medical Teachers Dr. Rakesh Malviya said, “Our medical training is to save the lives of patients and not just to carry out work.

This is why doctors are called close to God and we get great respect in society. So 8 -12 hour work is not necessary. “Junior doctors have to accept this hard fact that if they want to become full doctors (consultants), they have to prepare mentally like commandos to save the lives of patients.

Anonymous mail serves no purpose. If any student has a problem, they should talk to us directly,” Malviya added. Earlier, five resident doctors had written to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the chairman of the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) about the planned mass suicide by resident doctors on May 31 due to heavy work pressure, poisoning and student suffering. .
