General Motors is recalling 66 vehicles manufactured by its BrightDrop subsidiary over fire hazards.
The automaker was still investigating the cause of the fire but a fault in the front-wheel drive unit was suspected of causing at least two EV600 vehicles to catch fire last year, filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showed.
The affected vehicles are from 2022.
The first reports of a fire in an EV600 vehicle were received on 7 December 2023 and another on 13 December.
The two vehicles were owned by an unknown group.
GM opened a product investigation on December 22 and agreed to replace the affected vehicles.
