Ford Bronco recall coincides with the death of OJ Simpson

OJ Simpson and the Ford Broncos it seems destined to be linked forever.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that it will investigate Ford Motor Company’s recall of nearly 43,000 vehicles due to possible fuel injection defects that could cause 2022-2023 Broncos and 2022 Escapes to catch fire.

The announcement coincided with the death of Simpson, who led Los Angeles police on a high-speed chase in 1994 in a white Bronco.

Ford discontinued its Bronco line in 1996 for business reasons, but plans to bring back the iconic car on July 9, 2021.

However, the launch was delayed a few days after the automaker revealed it would be teaming up with Simpson once again.

“The original target date of July 9 unintentionally and OJ Simpson’s birthday,” Ford said in a statement in 2021. “We wanted to be careful and honor these concerns.”

Many Knicks fans remember the team’s nationally televised NBA game with the Houston Rockets being interrupted by images of a Bronco surrounded by cops driving down a Los Angeles freeway.

One of the men in the car was Simpson, who knew he would be charged with the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. He eventually surrendered and was released in a controversial trial that lasted nearly a year.

Simpson, 76, he succumbed to cancer Wednesday, according to his family.

There were no other suspects in his wife’s murder.
