Banned in the US before the 2024 model year, the Ranger Raptor is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 in this part of the world. Available with a four-cylinder diesel in several markets, the US Ranger Raptor A makes a whopping 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque as long as you fill up on 91 octane.

How much of that gets the wheels? The folks at Hennessey Performance Engineering have to answer that question with a short video starring a Ranger Raptor that shows just 132.2 miles (213 km) on the odometer.

Whether it’s the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the punchier 2.7-liter EcoBoost, or the Raptor-specific 3.0er, the 2024 Ford Ranger owner’s manual says you shouldn’t tow the first 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers). Owners are further advised to stop driving at high speeds or at a constant speed for long periods in the first 1,000 miles and to break in the tires at 300 miles (480 km).

That being said, Hennessey’s base numbers for the Raptor in rear-wheel drive mode are 349.20 horsepower at 5,390 rpm and 402.68 lb-ft (546 Nm) at 3,220 rpm. In other words, that’s 86.2 and 93.6 percent of the advertised crankshaft numbers.

Why did Hennessey shut this guy down on the dyno? The reason is the VelociRaptor 500, the fastest package introduced by the Texas company in May 2023. As indicated, Hennessey Performance Engineering is aiming for 500 horsepower. Maximum torque is 550 ft-lbs (746 Nm), and these figures would not have been possible without the optimization of Hennessey’s special engine management software.

The software is only half the story, though. The list of improvements also includes a higher air intake and better cooling in the form of a larger intercooler. Originally scheduled to enter production in the fourth quarter of 2024, the VelociRaptor 500 package is priced $24,950 above the Raptor’s MSRP.

$24,950 plus $55,470 for the dune-bashing midsizer and a $1,595 destination charge means $82,015 at least, which is a lot of money. Looking at the glass half full, the $24,950 HPE charges also gets you custom Hennessey wheels, a VelociRaptor front bumper with LED lights, a VelociRaptor rear bumper, Hennessey-embellished headrests, and various exterior badges.

HPE also sweetens the deal by branding the engine bay and interior. The VelociRaptor 500 has 200 blocks for the 2024 model year, and every block is backed by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. By measurement, that would be less than 60,000 km.

Because the Ranger Raptor is joined at the waist with the Bronco Raptor, it should come as no surprise that Hennessey can work magic on the Braptor as well. In the case of an off-road utility vehicle, the VelociRaptor 500 package starts at $28,950.
