Genesis Concept Neolun announces the future electric GV90

Neolun Concept of GenesisThe New York show opens its doors and the main novel comes from Genesis. The Neolun concept shows the upcoming large electric SUV that will lead the range of Hyundai’s first brand.

The Genesis range is currently divided into four levels: the 60, 70, 80 and 90 series, but while SUVs dominate the market, the top of the range, the 90 family, does not offer a traveler at the moment. That lack will soon be a thing of the past, as the Korean brand is preparing to launch the GV90. This new version will be electric only, and will launch the new eM platform that will be used later, replacing the current E-GMP, and all Hyundai-Kia electric models above the future C-segment GV60, EV6 and Ioniq 5 for example .

The concept should be inspired by Korean “moon” vases. More volume, however, considering the number of machines, designed more for the American market than the European market. The production version should easily exceed 5 meters in length, knowing that the GV80 is already 4.95 m long. Let’s calculate the width of 2 meters and not far from the height of 1.80 m … The reference to the traditional vases comes instead of smooth and refined shapes as possible. The only intensity comes from the lamp, which takes two lines typical of other models of the brand, with a direct evocation of the coat of wings motif in front.

Genesis does not present any information related to the car’s platform or electric drive, preferring to focus its communication on design or quality of life on board.

welcome inside

As usual with the concept, access to the car is greatly facilitated by the opposite doors without a central pillar, accompanied here by a removable step. From the concept, but Genesis emphasizes that the technology is now possible in the series. To be confirmed in a few months when the production model will be delivered…

The interior, like the exterior, is finished in blue and black tones and the emphasis is on comfort, with only three seats, including a swiveling driver’s seat. The original GV90 is expected to increase to 6 or 7 seats in three rows of seats. Here too, the manufacturer draws inspiration from the Korean tradition with “Ondol” heating. The traditional floor heating system, which here changes to the use of heating elements at floor level, but also on the door panels or dashboard. The features seem to be better than a hot air blower, especially for electric models.

This also allows the dashboard to do away with the usual air vents, and now it’s the speakers that are in the spotlight. The glass ball on the center console, which is used to control the transmission as on the GV60, doubles up here as an additional speaker. The large central screen is retractable: fully extended, at rest, partially extended while driving.
