Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Sets New Record at COTA

The Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution supercar has made history by setting a new production lap record at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), clocking in at 2 minutes and 10.90 seconds on the 3.41-mile track. Beating the McLaren P1 by 7 seconds and the previous record holder, the Czinger C21, by 0.34 seconds, the Venom F5 marks itself as one of the fastest American cars ever produced.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 6.6L V8 engine producing 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 7-speed clutch, semi-automatic transmission that includes paddle shifters.

Tested by their in-house driver, David Donohue, the Venom F5 showed incredible cornering and braking ability, reaching up to +1.59 G in corners and -1.61 G under braking, thanks to MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, Brembo brakes, carbon ceramic discs, and advanced Bosch ABS technology.

The record-breaking lap was timed by RACELOGIC using VBOX satellite telemetry and data logging systems. Equipped with street-legal tires and fueled by standard Shell pump ethanol, the Venom F5 used standard Pennzoil fluids during the laps.
