How much fuel does the DS 7 Crossback 180 HP consume? | French.pl

Can turbo petrol engines be economical? We decided to check how much fuel our editorial SUV uses when driving economically.

DS Automobiles is the first brand of the Stellantis group, producing avant-garde DS luxury cars. It was introduced in 2014 and its most popular model is the SUV – DS 7 Crossback. It can also be found more and more often in Poland.

Our test route of 662 km started from Gdańsk via Warsaw to Pszczyna with several stops. We did the test by fully refueling, driving test distances and refueling, at the same station network.

The test route included expressways, highways and city roads. The maximum speed did not exceed the limit in some places, while the current speed was based on the road conditions – and usually in such cases to pass slower cars several times, but also to drive in traffic jams. Due to the prevailing temperatures, the immobilizer remained off and the air conditioner was running at full speed. The average speed of the entire route is 69 km / h, the result of heavy traffic, driving through Warsaw filled with several traffic jams on the way.

Our DS 7 Crossback edition has a 1.6 PureTech engine with 180 HP, mated to an EAT8 automatic transmission. The vehicle was refueled in Tricity, filled with PB95 fuel, at a BP station. After driving 662 km, we refilled it. 47.41 liters went into the tank. So what was the actual fuel consumption like? The result is 7.1 liters per 100 km, which – considering the size of the car, the external conditions and the terrain – is very good. The computer showed the same result, 7.2 liters per 100.

The recipe for economical driving in the case of turbo gasoline is simple: first of all, maintain a constant speed and drive smoothly (very difficult on our roads, where the speed of individual cars varies greatly). The maximum speed chosen will also be important.

Finally, one more consideration: DS 7 Crossback is a car designed for long journeys. Comfortable suspension, big, comfortable seats and good interior soundproofing mean that after a couple of hundred kilometers it doesn’t feel like a long drive. Tires also affect driving comfort, in our case Michelin Crossclimate 2, quiet and all year round, this is one of the best options for this type of car. We use the previous generation on our Kadjar and Xantia, they will also be on the XM.

The arrival of the new generation DS 7 will lead to further versions of this successful SUV on the secondary market. In addition to a high level of comfort, it also offers good interior materials and a unique, even artistic design that you will not find in any other car. So maybe it’s worth looking for a DS?
