In reverse gear around the world – also for trucks

Dusseldorf, Tokyo The fuel cell as a type of vehicle drive is on hiatus worldwide. When it comes to passenger cars, there are only a few manufacturers who still believe in the future of this type of vehicle. Over the past two to three years, the battery-powered electric vehicle has become increasingly popular as the successor to the combustion engine. The battery car enjoys absolute priority in the world’s most important car markets in China, North America and Europe. It’s even more surprising that BMW plans to use fuel cells as an alternative in a new generation of electric vehicles.

In terms of trucks, however, the race between battery drives and hydrogen-powered fuel cells is still undecided. Fuel cell vehicles will be offered in the future, especially for trucks for long-distance trips. In city traffic and in suburban areas, however, a purely electric truck with a battery drive should also rule.
