back with a 500 horsepower V8

Redesigned in 2023, the Porsche Cayenne, one of the best sellers of the German brand, arrives in a new GTS version and revives the V8.

It was the Cayenne that saved Porsche. Indeed, when in difficulty at the beginning of the 2000s, the Stuttgart company launched in the era of sports and luxury SUV. And the Cayenne sold very well. Since then, it has remained one of the brand’s best sellers. The reason why it was changed in style last year. From now on, it is the GTS version that enters the list.

It’s still the V8 in the Cayenne GTS

It has been a year since Porsche introduced the third generation Cayenne. But one important member was still missing from the squad. From now on, The Cayenne GTS returns with SUV and coupe bodies.
It has a twin-turbo V8 that has been upgraded. It also gets a suspension setup that should make it more responsive, some sporter design features and a host of extra standard features.
Although it is not as powerful as the Turbo S E-Hybrid, nor as fast as the Turbo GT, the GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) takes its place in the Cayenne range.
In fact, it should combine driving pleasure, performance and ease of daily use. Its main asset is definitely the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that has been extensively updated. Now, it develops 500 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque.
This represents a power increase of 40 horsepower and 40 Nm over the previous generation Cayenne GTS. However, it’s still very close to the Cayenne S, which uses a 474-horsepower variant of the same engine.

Brand new engine for new performance

The twin-turbo V8 is exclusively mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox. This sends power to all four wheels via the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system.
Similar to the Turbo GT setup, the PTM system has a separate cooling circuit, improving endurance if you decide to drive at high speeds.
An increase in power results in a small improvement in performance. From now on, the GTS version of the Porsche SUV goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 275 km/h.
Standard two-chamber air suspension and the adaptive dampers have a special configuration for the GTS. It lowers the Cayenne by 10 mm compared to the “regular” and “S” versions of the German SUV.
Handling is further improved with increased negative camber of the front wheels. It even uses some of the front axle components of the Turbo GT. An active roll stabilization system (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) is still optional, but Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is now standard.

Appearance and price of the new Cayenne GTS

The GTS inherits the redesigned components of the rest of the Cayenne range. However, a few features specific to the GTS range are required. We are particularly thinking of air intakes in shields and tinted optical units.
Slim GTS logos adorn the doors and tailgate. There are also very dark brass colored exhaust pipes. The sporty look is further enhanced by the black gloss detailing of the Sport Design package that comes as standard. Finally, a set of 21-inch alloy wheels in anthracite color “RS Spyder Design” and red brake calipers are also standard on the Cayenne GTS.
Porsche also put him on a diet that saved 25 kg, thus improving performance. The 2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS will be available to order soon. The first copies should arrive at dealers soon.
In terms of price, you will have to pay 141,000 euros in France, or even 144,228 euros in the Coupé version. For this, it will undoubtedly be necessary to increase the ecological penalty of 60,000 euros.

And for good reason, this new GTS version of the Porsche SUV does not have any kind of hybrid. Yes, the pleasure of driving a V8 in the wild comes at a high price in France!
