Infiniti QX80 2025: after 14 years, it was time!

Largest SUV insideInfinity it is finally updated in fact, after the second generation that lasted no less than 14 years. It is closely related to the concept QX monograph that we saw at the last Toronto Auto Show, new QX80 will try to relaunch a brand that is looking for itself.

Its vice president of North America, Craig Keeys, describes it as “the ultimate expression of bold design, cutting-edge technology and attention-to-detail craftsmanship.” Although he is optimistic, he expects the vehicle to set a new standard for full-size luxury SUVs.

The mission will be very difficult, obviously, with the QX80 ranking last in the sales category. First, it will be able to rely on a more elegant and modern design that embodies the philosophy of “Artistry in Motion”.

Its silhouette remains very square, very American, with a more striking grille and redesigned daytime running lights that evoke a bamboo forest, Infiniti tells us, while the full-width taillights use more than 300 LEDs to simulate light rays on the body. of water. A sequence of welcoming lights is activated when a vehicle approaches.

Pleasant mood

Inside, the QX80 has increased its quality of materials, including genuine open-pore trim with laser-etched metal inlays and semi-aniline leather seats with hand-unfinished stitching details. The optional 64-color ambient lighting, based on the four seasons, adds another dimension to the decor.

Two side-by-side configurable high-resolution 14.3-inch screens dominate the dashboard. The infotainment system integrates various Google features, including Assistant and navigation via Google Maps. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.

Wide-angle front camera technology delivers images to both screens to make driving easier in parking lots, tight garages or even driveways. Then, thanks to the function of the transparent hood, the driver can see a planned image of what is behind the hood of the car, which makes it possible to identify curbs, rails at the door of the car wash and other obstacles.

Another nice feature, this time in the second row, is the optional biometric cooling, which senses when the passenger feels hot and directs cool air towards them automatically. It allows you to reach a comfortable temperature in 50% less time than conventional climate control alone.

All occupants will be able to enjoy a new Klipsch sound system offering up to 24 speakers and 1,200 watts of power. That said, only the front passengers have head speakers, mainly for hearing navigation cues or calls.

Goodbye, V8!

Unsurprisingly, the old 5.6-liter V8 disappears in favor of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. This produces 450 horsepower (+50) and 515 lb-ft (+102) of torque, so you’re going to be a big winner. The engine is mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. However, fuel consumption estimates are not yet available.

The electronic air suspension can lower the vehicle by nearly 3 inches when parked for easy cargo loading or easy passenger entry. When driving, it lowers 2.1 inches to reduce drag and constantly evaluates the road surface to adjust body movements for increased comfort. The QX80, by the way, is up to 4 decibels quieter than before.

Prices are already known, even for Canada, and we are talking about a significant increase in rights. The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is available in three trims: Luxury for $104,995 (about $20,000 more than the current base price!), Sensory for $113,995 and Autograph for $124,995, excluding transportation and preparation costs.
