Cupra Leon “Widebody RS”: Tuning von JE Design

With the spoiler it could also be called a Leonair: JE Design transforms the Cupra Leon into a high flyer like the “Widebody RS”. The rear spoiler that wraps everything around is just the crowning glory of a clever aerodynamic modification.

Who still remembers the first study of the Cupra Urban Rebel from 2021, which is scheduled to enter series production as the Raval in 2025? Well, tuner JE Design was quick, at least when it came to the monster spoiler of the original design. The crazy wing work shouldn’t overshadow the rest of the Cupra Leon’s exciting body kit. And that’s why we don’t start the story from the back, but from the beginning. As early as 2023, the refiner from Leingarten near Heilbronn brought the “Widebody RS” kit for the Leon Sportstourer to market. A wide body that includes wings in the style of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS also serves as the basis for the latest expansion step.

Some accessory parts are not only the end in itself, but also play an important role in the good aerodynamic tuning of the Cupra Leon. Free fins under the wheel arch extension reduce air turbulence and at the same time ensure better brake ventilation. The three-part front spoiler can be set in race or street mode and, depending on this, provides more or less power to the front axle. The Spanish way is more reliable, not thanks to the 255 tires, which enter the wheel arches due to their wide construction. In addition to the 18- to 20-inch internal rims, lowering springs (20 mm lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the rear) also ensure a cup-racing appearance. Tuning von JE Design: Cupra Leon “Widebody RS”

So much for the Cupra Leon known as the “Widebody RS”. What’s completely new is what happens between the roof edge and the taillights and makes even fans of the Honda Civic Type R turn redder than their sports seats: a two-and-a-half-story rear spoiler. The Cupra can’t fly, but it’s now less likely to fly out of bends due to the extra contact pressure. The fact that the wing is a large piece of sports equipment is not only shown by the JE design note that it can be installed only in conjunction with a three-part front spoiler, but also by 180 kg of downforce at 200 km / h. . The supercharger has already shown the incredible potential of the high-flyer: with a performance increase to 390 hp (287 kW), lightweight construction, semi-slope and coilover suspension, the planned Leon even beat the Lamborghini Huracán as “Widebody”.
