Kia Brasil will be the official sponsor and collector of the Rio Open 2023. In tennis, the automaker renewed its main sponsorship of the Australian Open until 2028 and has Spaniard Rafael Nadal as one of its ambassadors.
This will be the first time for Kia Motors to be a partner of the competition. Last year, Mitsubishi owned the property after taking over from Peugeot.
Under the contract, the new Kia Sportage takes the status of “Official Car of the Rio Open 2023” and will be displayed on the grounds of the main court, as well as in the brand’s lounge on Leblon Boulevard.
Kia Brasil will also be responsible for making all transfers for the athletes during their stay in Rio de Janeiro. For this, the brand will offer Stonic, Sportage and Niro models, electric vehicles recently launched on the Brazilian market, as well as Carnival, a minivan with a capacity of eight passengers.
The idea is to gain visibility during the nine days of competition, which will take place at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, in Rio de Janeiro, between February 18 and 26, and should receive around 60,000 people. In addition, the Rio Open will be shown on closed TV by Sportv in Brazil.
“Kia has been a big supporter of the game. With the new position and slogan, ‘Movement that inspires’, this is only reinforced. We are happy to be part of this great tournament that celebrates Brazilian tennis”, said Gustavo Gandini, Kia Brasil operations director.
