Kia XCeed: used car test – How To Cars

The world of branding is changing. 20 years ago, it was still known as an affordable housing builder come on now interesting cars. In the case of Xceed take a good look too. A popular combination of five important doors, behind the coupe and pithy SUV has been rolling off the assembly line at the Žilina factory in Slovakia since 2019.

Our test car from Autohaus Günther in Hamburg-Farmsen is a very early example and was first registered in the summer of 2019. It is now on sale with 43,271 kilometers for 22,990 euros. Given the new price, which Schwacke’s database shows to be 31,390 euros, there would now be almost a third of the savings.

Used Kia Xceed: Technical equipment more than complete

And it looks old Xceed certainly still, despite a subtle facelift in autumn 2022. Front space is generous, back and in the trunk at least family-friendly. In terms of equipment, the Launch Edition is more than complete: heated seat and steering wheel, keyless entry system, electric seats with memory function and a panoramic roof often cost a small fortune from the competition.

There are also 18-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate and friendly color accents like the stitching on the seats and on the dashboard to match the pale yellow exterior. The smartphone can be easily recharged at the inductive charging point on the center console and connected to the 10.25-inch infotainment system. The latter works quickly, gets updates online and is updated. DAB reception, navigation functionality, a reversing camera and a JBL sound system are put as icing on the cake.

Signs of wear are rare on our test car

More important, however, is the question of quality after three and a half years. Superficially, it is better: to get a lot of noise to close the door, you have to look for a long time, even on premium compacts. All internal equipment is above average, at least in the upper range. However, simpler plastic can also be found from the knee length down and on the trunk.

103 kW (140 hp) at 6000 rpm

Signs of use are very rare after the calculation of the ground rotation: the seats are closed and not stained, the rims do not have damage to the block, the painting does not have large scratches. And on our test drive north of Hamburg, there were also good marks for the balance of the chassis: rumbling axles is not an issue, but road noise is high.

Consumption with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine: about seven liters

In terms of driving technology, there is diversity. The base is a 120 hp turbo petrol engine. In testing Xceed it works with a super injection 1.4 liter turbo with 140 hp and a gasoline particulate filter. This engine uses about seven liters of Super, meets the Euro 6d-Temp emission standard and has enough fuel for a car, which weighs up to 1.8 tons.

It will be faster and bigger, 160 and 204 hp gasoline engine T-GDI. The 1.6 CRDi diesel with 115 and 136 hp, which can be found from 19,000 euros, is suitable for frequent drivers. More innovative is the plug-in hybrid variant with 141 hp and around 40 km of electric range, which starts at 25,000 active euros.

And alimony? Liability is cheap, comprehensive insurance is average. A big advantage is the new car warranty of seven years or up to 150,000 km. This reduces the risk of maintenance costs. And let’s not forget that unfortunately there is no all-wheel drive version.
