For this; for this Section 24, we fly over the Atlantic, towards Detroit in the United States. This town in central Michigan is the birthplace American car.
It is here that he was actually born Ford, the country’s leading brand. But in this episode, we will discover the history of another important car company, that of Cadillac.
It was established at the beginning of the 20th century August 22, 1902 Quite rightly, a car brand with a gold coat has become a symbol of success and fortune for many Americans. For us, Cadillac cars are always synonymous with dreams and interesting sounds. But if the models of the luxury car are known, the origin of the brand is very little. To try to see things more clearly, we have to go back a long way, to the end of the 19th century. Looking back at the beginning of Cadillac, brand with thirty different logos!

How was Cadillac born in America?

We are at the very end of the 19thth century, in the middle of Michigan in the city of Detroit. At this time, it was a period of prosperity for the settlers. The economy is growing, and business is also growing. In this victory of the West, it is troll manufacturers, among others, who quickly make a fortune. Two of them, William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen quickly decided to differentiate, and entered a field that was still in its infancy: car.
In 1899, they founded the Detroit Automobile Company. But the beginning is boring. After only twelve cars were assembled in two years, our two men decided to improve their style and hire someone. Henry Ford. The company is being reorganized into The Henry Ford Company. But a few months later, there was a twist. Henry Ford becomes angry with Murphy, and the young engineer resigns. This is where another major player in Cadillac history comes into play.
Meanwhile, another engineer, Henry Leland, had been developing since 1890 engine and infection for the very first cars. His company, LF&N of Leland, Faulconer & Norton Co, has lost a potential customer for its engines. Luckily, he then turned to Murphy and Bowen to join forces and build together the first car. We are August 22, 1902, and Leland, Murphy, and Bowen and all meet together to define the rules of the new company. But they also need to get a name. In the spirit of the bicentennial commemoration of the founding of the city of Detroit, they chose to name their company “ Cadillac ยป.
