It must have been over fifteen years ago that I thought I had reached heaven. It was then that I was allowed to drive five laps at Circuit Paul Ricard (Le Castellet) in the Maserati MC12, which the Vitaphone team had been very successful at in the FIA ​​GT championship. The MC12 was actually a contact car developed by Dallara that the Ferrari Enzo served as a starting point. It went up surprisingly easily. I sat perfectly in it and this amazing racing car even turned out to be so comfortable that I had no problem taking a few hours in the famous 24 hour race. With a sequential gearbox, relatively ‘quiet’, about 600 hp 6.0 liter V12 with traction control, it was a very good car to go fast from the start. Obviously it helped with peace of mind that on this safe circuit and not too difficult you still have to do your best to hit something if you make a mistake in decision. To add to the pleasant atmosphere, we were guests in a beautiful hotel that is part of the property owned by Bernie Ecclestone’s ex-wife.
