Reigning ADAC GT Masters champion Elias Seppänen set the fastest time of the day in a Landgraf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 in practice on Friday at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

In the first power test of the new ADAC GT Masters season, last year’s champion Elias Seppänen (FIN/Landgraf Motorsport) drove the fastest lap of the day during free practice at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The youngster achieved a best time of 1:22.849 minutes in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 during the morning session.

Second fastest were the duo of Maxime Oosten (NL) and Leon Köhler (Erlenbach am Main) in the BMW M4 GT3 from FK Performance Motorsport. The fastest time in the second practice session by Benjamin Hites (CHL) and Tim Zimmermann (Langenargen/both Grasser Racing Team) in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 meant third place on the day’s best list.

In sub-double-digit temperatures, the pilots set off on the 3.667 km long course in Magdeburger Börde for the first time on Friday’s opening event. Two one-hour training sessions were arranged, during which no one could pass Seppänen. “Starting the new season with a record is definitely a good feeling. However, points are only awarded during the race. We are working hard to be ahead,” said the Scandinavian.

The top five was completed by two Mercedes-AMG GT3s from the Haupt Racing Team: Drivers Finn Wiebelhaus (Obertshausen) and Jannes Fittje (Langenhain) took fourth ahead of Salman Owega (Cologne) and David Schumacher (Salzburg).

The day starts on Saturday morning at 9:15 am with the first qualifying, which can be seen in a free live stream at adac.de/motorsport and on the YouTube channel @adacmotorsports. From 3:15 pm the ADAC GT Masters will be looking for its first race winner of the new season. TV partner SPORT1 will broadcast the entire race live on German free-to-air TV.
