Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, electric and fuel lies!

Maserati has launched its new 4-seater convertible, which also has an electric motor to match the idea of running your hair in the wind.

The Maserati enigma is a myth. Although the products presented by the manufacturer from Modena, Italy, have never been perfect and elegant, the brand is going through a serious financial crisis. Which forces many employees to be let go, especially at headquarters.

A strong treatment that contrasts with an excess of energy to breathe new life into this brand whose origins are one of the best in the automotive industry. This statement is even more true as attention to design has returned in recent years. But getting customers who were disappointed with the previous experience to return is not easy.

In France for example, a seller like Car Lovers (Schumacher group) sets his brain to provide a unique experience of life, and this seems to work. But the process will be long. The first sale was opened in Saint-Cloud, in the chic neighborhood of Paris.

Maserati accompanies this renaissance with a much-needed new product. A large 4-seat convertible that perfectly matches the brand’s custom and is very popular in the United States. This design is already available in a warm version with all-wheel drive responsible for sending the 550 horsepower of the twin 3.0-liter V6 to the ground. But now, an electric version of the GranCabrio Folgore, with 761 horsepower, is on the way.

3 electric motors!

Maserati is embarking on an energy transition that will make it an electric manufacturer by the end of this decade. To do so, it can rely on the combined expertise of the Stellantis groups (which it owns) and its cousin Ferrari (independent but which buys its heat engines). The entire 800 volt architecture (for very fast discharge of electricity and recharges) is based around a 92.5 kWh battery.

This enables three electric motors: 1 at the front, 2 at the back, with a theoretical cumulative power of 1,200 horsepower. Each motor is independent, meaning that at the rear, each one drives one wheel. This solution will ensure better torque ventilation to provide good road dynamics for a car whose weight must be around 2300 kg…

Each motor can produce up to 400 horses, but the battery is limited to 610 kW continuously, or about 750 hp.

Fake V8 engine sound?

We were talking to you about the synergy between Stellantis. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore borrows a solution that has little to do with the Abarth 500e, namely a device that produces a synthetic sound – if the driver wants it – that endorses that of the brand’s V8. Detoxification is slowly taking place at Maserati…

Four driving modes allow you to change the character of this Maserati: High Range (Maximum freedom), GT, Sport and Corsa.

The most “interesting”, coming from more sporty ways, is about the Max Level and its energy saving strategies. The maximum speed is limited to 130 km / h, while the throttle response is sluggish so that you do not call unnecessary power. The air conditioner also sees its power reduced.

Maserati has presented a starting price of 211,250 eurosand the first delivery will take place in 2025. It’s not cheap, but tell yourself that there won’t be a penalty of 60,000 euros or a full tank of petrol for 200 euros later…
