Mercedes-Benz says that the G 580 consumes 27.7 kWh

For the first time – before the world premiere on April 24, 2024 – Mercedes-Benz communicated the average power consumption of the “G 580 with EQ technology”. Therefore, an electric off-road vehicle needs an impressive 27.7 kWh according to the WLTP.

The EQG production model – which is sold as the G 580 with EQ technology – has an average consumption of 27.7 kWh and, depending on the equipment, up to 30.3 kWh per 100 km. This means that the off-road vehicle from Graz is larger than model EQS 680 Maybach 4MATIC SUV, which is given as 22 to 24.1 kWh. The reason for the increased use – despite some aerodynamic improvements – is the angular and high design of the icon, which has changed little since 1979. The maximum range of the model will be around 450 km.

Mercedes-Benz will offer the G-Class model with an electric car with four electric motors and a system output of around 432 kW. Electric motors are permanent-excitation synchronous machines that have a 2-speed gearbox. In terms of road characteristics, the G 580 will not differ much from the model with a combustion engine, although the water depth may be higher due to the electric motors.
