The third generation Nissan Qashqai is a car that we have known for more than a year. As a reminder, this is the first Qashqai to be offered with a mild hybrid system. The interior has been modernized, the design has been enhanced, and the offering has been enhanced with many modern technologies.

But what always made the Qashqai a bestseller remains in the form of good old-fashioned performance. It was this model, after all, that defined the mid-size crossover: a combination of the height of a hatchback and the high ceiling of an SUV, a high driving position and optional four-wheel drive.

The evolution of the external appearance can be explained only in the top things: narrow lights, sculpted surfaces and a sense of size, although without a gram of forced exaggeration. The car is longer to increase the space in the cockpit and boot, but it is still a shell enough to pass the city streets with confidence.

Unfortunately, the interior does not knock out much. A tablet with a thick visible shell, simple graphics, but also a functional navigation menu comes out of the dashboard. Best of all are the large buttons that provide clear shortcuts for operation and climate control, as well as the pleasant-to-touch temperature buttons. The version of the Tekna kit I tested is even closer, offering a 12.3-inch screen, a 10.8-inch head-up display and a wireless charger.

Also in this version, the glove box in the center and the dashboard are finished in plastic, which makes a good impression. A few more comments make it clear that the Qashqai is not the king of panache, but of high performance.

The only engine offered is a 1.3-liter smooth-hybrid four-cylinder. Nissan offers two power options: 140hp and 158hp, with manual and automatic transmission variants available, and two- or four-wheel drive.

Personally, I drove the most powerful Qashqai, in the machine with the option of 4 × 4. This is not the place for a long discussion on this topic, but if you can, invest in an automatic gearbox. xTronic is very good and that’s it. The car reacts immediately, provides a good push of power and a roar of revolutionary muscles, and at the same time maintains an exemplary gear ratio. You can even make quick changes yourself thanks to the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. I immediately noticed that there is nothing uncertain about the operating system.

The third-generation Qashqai is well positioned and built, and its high grip makes it fun to corner. At this point it is important to mention that the crossover has dropped 60 kg from the body. For the first time, the tailgate is made of composite and other body panels are made of aluminum. However, this is not complete information. Rough pavement produces soft tire noise, especially at highway speeds.

There is plenty of space in the Qashqai. Passengers in the back will have no reason to complain, and the rear door opens at a large angle of 85˚, which will certainly make it easier to carry children, although when they get out of it, it increases the risk of hitting a neighboring car. , eg in a shopping mall. The capacity of the cargo compartment is 479 liters.

The Qashqai offer starts with the Visia version, which costs PLN 110,200. All the essential safety features you need for a family transition are already there: Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, as well as blind spot sensors, traffic sign recognition and parking sensors. For PLN 19,000 extra, we get keyless start, folding side mirrors, USB-C sockets as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Acenta version. In addition, an upgraded multimedia package with an 8-inch touch screen and six speakers. The PLN 139,500 N-Connect finish increases the infotainment screen to 12.3 inches, replacing the standard clocks with a horizontal TFT display, adding tinted windows or a 360-degree camera with motion detection. Finally, the tested variant of Tekna and Tekna +. The first costs PLN 154,850 and includes features such as electric tailgate, Qashqai premiere, wireless charger and ProPILOT, as well as heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Tekna + comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels, user memory and massage seats, and BOSE sound system with 10 speakers. But it already costs PLN 166,650, which is more than 56,000 more than the basic Qashqai.
