The inspiration for the Evo came to Horacio Pagani during the Formula Indy race, where racing cars have a combination of an ‘Aeroscreen’ made of polycarbonate and yet an open cockpit. But the Huayra R Evo is more than just an open-top R. The entire body has been redesigned and is 29 cm longer thanks to a wider splitter at the front and a ‘codalunga’, or long tail, at the rear. Thanks to that extra aerodynamic room, the Huayra R Evo delivers 45% less downforce without giving up extra air resistance. It’s interesting. Pagani has also worked on balance to keep the weight distribution (45/55 percent between the axles) constant at any speed. At a speed of 320 kilometers per hour, the Evo will even be able to produce its full vehicle weight of 1,060 kg! And even an open roof contributes to the decline.

900 horsepower naturally aspirated

For engines, Pagani again turned to HWA AG, the Mercedes racing company. The German engineers were able to give the 6 liter V12 an extra 50 hp, with a new peak power of 662 kW (900 hp) at 8,750 rpm and a limiter that now only intervenes at 9,200 rpm. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed gearbox with an efficiency of 95% and a weight of only 80 kg.
