La Quinzaine de l’AJ (Ep.4): Alfa Romeo Junior, E-3008 on test and battery

Jean-Éric Raoul, editor-in-chief of L’Auto-Journal, reviews the latest automotive news in “La Quinzaine de l’AJ”. This fourth episode takes us to discover the Alfa Romeo Junior before focusing on battery life. Finally we will finish with a measured test of the new electric Peugeot 3008.

your monthly appointment, “AJ Two Weeks”it goes back to a the fourth part. Now you’re used to it, this fortnight, presented by the editor-in-chief ofand L’Auto-Journal Jean-Eric Raoul, It is divided into three parts: the discovery of a new model followed by a reflective lesson completed by an essay found in a magazine.

AJ Fortnight (Ep. 4): The new Alfa Romeo Junior

The latest from Alfa Romeo, the Junior, opens the ball this fortnight. Originally named Milano, Junior was quickly renamed at the request of the Italian government. Since the small SUV was made in Poland, it was unlikely that it would be named after an Italian city.
Based on the platform used by the small SUVs of the Stellantis group (Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, Fiat 600, etc.), the Junior shows its own style. Its Latin design backed by multiple curves places it squarely in the lineage of pure Alfa Romeos.
The interior, on the other hand, features Sabelt seats on top of the Veloce range and the restoration of the double hood as the instrument. On the technical side, the Junior will have a 156 hp electric unit associated with a 54 kWh battery providing 410 kilometers of autonomy. This will be followed by three other releases that will converge over the course of the year. Video description!

AJ Fortnight (Ep. 4): battery life

We continue with the question of proper battery aging, one of the main concerns of electric car buyers. Very expensive, these accumulators usually lose their capacity over time and kilometers.
From the perspective we have today, the results are not as tragic as expected. The results are rather reassuring: once the 100,000 km mark, electric car batteries lose an average of 5% of their capacity. After 200,000 km, some models even manage to maintain their batteries at more than 85% of their capacity!
Another study shows that the maximum loss is 30% after ten years of use. So, really, how can you reduce the wear on your batteries as much as possible? Video response!

AJ fortnight (Ep. 4): independent steps for the Peugeot e-3008

With its 73 kWh battery, the new Peugeot e-3008 claims a theoretical range of up to 527 km. At L’Auto-Journal, we have a habit of testing cars, whether thermal or electric, to give you more accurate figures and more than all, more real.
Like all models, the electric 3008 therefore loses its feathers as it emerges with a combined autonomy of 400 km. On the highway, the value even drops to 330 km. These initially disappointing results must be noted. Electric SUVs exceeding 400 km are rare.
In L’Auto-Journal’s database, only the Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen ID.5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E can currently boast such performance. Sochaux will have to fear the arrival of the new Renault Scénic which promises more than 600 kilometers of autonomy with its 87 kWh battery. And of course, it should do better than the Peugeot.
