In fact, they ended up on the track three versions of the BMW M, petrol, diesel and hybrid, giving fans of the German brand an unforgettable experience. The ones who put them next to each other at first are those who manage the YouTube account @cawow, who specialize in the world of cars.

It came out of him historical and definitive challenge, which will allow everyone to understand which of the three versions is the best in certain respects. Until now, we can talk about their differences mainly in theoretical terms, but street practice has given a decision that in the future we can find inspiration to describe these three versions.

BMW M, which is better among them hybrid, gasoline or diesel?

The question arises spontaneously as soon as the car manufacturer creates a new model and this can only lead to comparison with others based on their technical characteristics. Once on the road, however, the situation can turn upside down, even if it is never easy to change the predictions made by expert technicians in the automotive industry.

BMWs with three numbers added to the M abbreviation have slightly higher performance compared to other models. Carwow wondered which one was better and for this reason wanted to test them on a 400 meter track. The M340i, M340d and 330e plug-in hybrid ended up in the race, each with different characteristics.

La M340d Touring it has a six-cylinder diesel engine capable of producing up to 430 HP and 850 Nm M340i, instead, it is 187 kg lighter than that (as it weighs 1,758 kg) and has the same inline 6 cylinders as the previous one. The difference is in horse power, 477 HP, and torque, of 630 Nm, as well as, obviously, in the power supply. Plug-in for La 330e – weighing 1,740 kg – instead, it sports a four-cylinder engine connected to an electric motor to turn the rear wheels.

The challenge ended with several interesting ideas that do not determine the real winner. In fact, more than 400 meters is a petrol sedan, with 12 seconds, which reaches the best time, and one diesel behind, 3 tenths away, and finally one hybrid, which has managed to conclude this challenge in 12.7 seconds after arrival. In the starting race, however, each of them achieved a record: that of the 340 petrol at the start, achieved at 80 km/h; diesel on the quality of torque, in the sixth gear; hybrid in last gear, in eighth gear.
