Premier League: Aston Villa were sidelined by an ailing team before returning to LOSC

In a few days, Aston Villa will meet LOSC in the Conference League. Meanwhile, Villans conceded a draw against Brentford (3-3) after leading by two goals.

LOSC’s next opponent, Thursday, in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, Aston Villa started an interesting match this Saturday, in Birmingham. Against Brentford, who remained in eight matches without success, the English team was the favorite and first justified this status by striking in important minutes, before (Watkins 39′) and after (Rogers 46′) the break. Two goals early, it was possible to think that the end of the match would continue at the same pace and yet, a big gap allowed Nuki to catch. Even better, following the goals scored in quick succession by Mathias Jörgensen (59′), Yoane Wissa (61′) and Bryan Mbeumo (68′), they took that opportunity. At that point it was important to rely on Ollie Watkins, the author of two headers after the second goal from a cross from Leon Bailey (81′) to grab an equalizer and settle for a draw.

This (3-3) is a bad result for the Villans in the Champions League race while Tottenham (who will face Nottingham Forest this Sunday) can now progress. It’s LOSC’s turn to get a boost from Brentford, the team the Mastiffs had met a few months earlier to end their pre-season, to dampen the hopes of Aston Villa, who are therefore likely to be bullied at home. Tune in this Thursday at 9pm live from Villa Park for the first round of an exciting doubleheader.
