Rimac Launches New 8-Year Warranty for Refrigerator Batteries – Rimac Newsroom

Designed to deliver 1.4MW of power, the Nevera battery was designed to meet strict packaging, weight and performance targets. Its H-shaped design – as opposed to the flat-top skateboard-style layout was chosen to allow the driver and passengers to sit down in the vehicle, rather than having the feeling of sitting ‘on top’ of it. Like the hyper-GT, the battery was also challenged to deliver impressive long-distance performance and performance without fading.

To achieve these goals, the Rimac team developed a Lithium Manganese Nickel chemistry, with water-glycol cooling plates. Several innovations help cool the battery, but perhaps the most important is that these cooling plates enclose the cell, rather than just the top or bottom, to provide consistent and effective cooling throughout the pack.

As a result of this innovative design and engineering, the Nevera exhibits a wide range of capabilities. In an incredible feat last year, it set 23 speed and performance records in one day, requiring 30 full speed runs in less than 8 hours, with no noticeable drop in performance. The Nevera is also capable of traveling 490 kilometers (WLTP) or up to 305 miles (EPA) on a single charge and can charge at 500kW; speed so fast that only a few public chargers exist with this capacity.

The 8-year warranty covers all major battery pack faults and includes a guarantee that at the end of the warranty period the battery will still have a total charge capacity of 75% of that when it was issued new.

Small-volume production of the Nevera continues apace at Rimac’s headquarters in Croatia, with products being delivered to customers around the world.
