At a shareholder meeting at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas, someone recently managed to take pictures of the Tesla Cybertruck. Those photos, which we got thanks to Carscoops.com on Cybertruck Owners Club Forum, show the interior of Tesla that has few surprises for those who know this brand a little. Compared to the recent Model S and Model X, this interior can even be called a bit simple. For example, there is no info screen behind the steering wheel here and the naturally present touchscreen appears to float as a separate feature in front of the dashboard. As with the Model 3 and Model Y, the dashboard itself is little more than a straight ‘board’, though it’s finished here in an Alcantara-like material.
Between the seats is a seemingly large storage compartment, which you can close with a type of roller shutter. New, and therefore interesting, is the steering wheel. It’s not quite ‘yoke’ like the Model S and Model X, but it’s definitely not round. It has a top and a bottom, but is very compressed on both sides. The center of the steering wheel is the same as that of the Model S and Model X, along with the turn signal buttons. Control inputs on the steering column are completely absent, as in the S and X, because you control the direction of the passenger’s wipers and the windshield through the touch screen.
Of course we can’t guarantee that the interior of the Tesla Cybertruck will look like this. That doesn’t matter for the Netherlands, because it doesn’t look like Cybertruck will be available here in the near future. That was true for the rest of the world for a long time, but in the second half of 2023, Cybertruck shipments in the United States seem to be going real. Tesla first showed the Cybertruck in 2019, although there are still differences between that first copy and the Cybertrucks that we saw later. All in all it’s a fantastically shaped pick-up, which enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting for many delays recently.
Funny note, by the way: The Model Ys you see in the background are finished in Midnight Cherry Red and Quicksilver. Those colors are currently only used at the Tesla factory in Berlin and, as far as we know, are not available in the United States, where these photos were taken.
