Jaguar Land Rover has suffered a loss of 620 million

Jaguar Land Rover has made a loss of 524 million pounds, equivalent to 620 million euros, in the last three months. This is mainly due to ongoing chip problems, which means that JLR can still produce far fewer cars than ordered. The loss has been compounded by the corona lockdown in China, negative price developments and further cost increases.

The British car company now has more than 200,000 orders on its books, 60 percent of which are for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender. As the chip situation gradually improves and JLR has also secured new suppliers, it expects a significant improvement in results for the remainder of the financial year ending March 31, 2023. The Tata Motors subsidiary also notes that it has approximately 6.2 billion euros in assets financially.

CEO Thierry Bolloré: “Our strategy to offer our customers the future of modern luxury continues at full speed as we accelerate our business plans led by an electric first brand. Although headwinds from the global chip shortage and the corona shutdown in China affected our performance this quarter, I am pleased to confirm that we have established a fully strengthened organization to address the semiconductor crisis. This is now leading to a recovery in production growth, allowing us to achieve higher levels, which will enable us to capitalize on our record order book in the coming quarter.”
