Pontina: Close (Ecoitaliasolidale) – Rosati (Mobility Study Center) still works without limits on Pontina with daily disruptions

The works of Via Pontina do not end with the usual daily traffic nuisances which, especially during rush hour and on weekends, become hours and hours of endless queues. We are witnessing the permanent closure of the SS 148 Pontina road towards Latina and the early signing of the construction zone starting from Km 18+000 and closed step by step until Km 19+500, with passing allowed only on the bypass. paths for all vehicles and for vehicle buildings with a width of no more than 3 meters: the result is that it takes 30 minutes to overcome the construction site.

We are now in the pre-summer period and the usual traffic problems are experienced in the area south of the capital, between Tor de’ Cenci-Spinaceto sud and Castel di Decima-Castel Porziano. Works that greatly affect the transport of many kilometers from and to the capital towards EUR, in a vein where approximately 29 million vehicles circulate, 81 thousand every day.

“We hope that the completion of the Pontina works is expected soon (even if we remain skeptical about the date of April 23 that has been presented), but we reiterate our arguments regarding the lack of intention to carry out the general construction project of the doubling of the Via Pontina that is not only used to reach the seaside resorts of the Region, but also (and always) by the main residents of the regions of Rome, an improvement that will mean greater safety, less traffic, less pollution, fuel savings for users.

This is what Piergiorgio Benvenuti, President of the Ecological Movement of Ecoitaliasolidale and Fabio Rosati, President of the Center for Migration Research, announced in a note.

“Last summer we argued about the bad timing of the work on the Pontina, in the middle of a period of high flow of travelers to the sea resorts, now we are asking for the work on the same part to be completed soon, but above. all that can be concluded with great speed above all by planning more to make Pontina an adequate vein for the daily number of users. It is unacceptable that such works are always carried out when there is heavy traffic on the road due to the start of the summer season”.
