The 2024 Lexus GX has been revealed, quite a bit

Toyota Motor Corporation seems to be appreciating the stealth advertising method of revealing cars. Following Toyota’s many teases of the 2024 Tacoma, it’s Lexus’ turn to tease drivers. After revealing a few images of the 2024 TX earlier this week, Lexus is now revealing a little more about its GX model. The manufacturer has published two pictures of the next generation of the car which allows to confirm that the Lexus GX 2024 will be updated after almost 15 years of service in the same form.

Square style

The first pictures do not reveal much information about the car, but they confirm that the Lexus GX 2024 will show a more ambitious style than the current version. Thanks to their new color, the hood and fender towers of the car look square. These provide the feeling of durability associated with off-road vehicles. Similar to the black grille, the headlights have also been modified. Stretched and integrated into the automaker’s rear design, the headlights resemble the high beams of the 2023 Lexus LX.

Another teaser shows the rear lights. While they appear to run the full width of the car, the lights also look, at first, like the LX’s taillights. The picture also shows that it would be quite possible to open the window without fully opening the tailgate. Indeed, a small handle integrated into the bezel just above the Lexus logo seems to confirm that this feature will still be offered for 2024.

Very little information at the moment

At the time of writing these lines, the manufacturer has revealed a little information. However, we can guess and believe that this next generation Lexus GX will be assembled on the manufacturer’s TNGA-F platform. It is on this platform that the Toyota Land Cruiser, Tundra and Sequoia are based; so it would be reasonable to believe that GX will also be based on this platform. To continue the rumours, it may also be highly likely that the 2024 GX will no longer be offered with a V8 engine. Since the automaker has turned to turbocharged V6 engines and hybrid powertrains for the Toyota Tundra, it would be natural to see similar powertrains in the GX as well. Of course, there is no confirmation from Lexus that this is the case, but several echoes in the industry point in this direction.

It is impossible to know when the 2024 Lexus GX will be officially launched. For now, we’ll be keeping an eye out for future cryptic announcements because, if Lexus chooses the same reveal strategy as Toyota, we’ll be treated to a number of teasers before the official launch.
