The biggest triumph of the hype car

Tesla’s Cybertruck is perhaps one of the electric vehicles that has received the most attention. This was part of the hype, but more often mockery.

The latter happened mainly because of the many mistakes that Elon Musk made during production and the Cybertruck finally made it to the streets.

Breaking windows

Even before the release of the Cybertruck, there were initial problems that even Elon Musk hadn’t foreseen. While showing off the truck, Tesla’s boss wanted to show how sturdy the car’s windows are.

However, that backfired. A steel ball thrown at the windows caused them to break. Musk also made it onto our list of the biggest advertising failures of 2019.

Delayed delivery and significant price increase

When announcing the Cybertruck, Elon Musk announced that the cheapest model would start around $40,000. However, now it seems that the prices have increased rapidly. Now the cheapest model costs around $60,000.

In addition, the affordable Cybertruck with rear-wheel drive is still not available. Tesla expects those who pre-ordered to receive the car in 2025. Price increases and delayed deliveries also apply to two other models with all-wheel drive and more power. Initially, only select customers received the Cybertruck.

Amazing publicity stunts

The publicity stunt from our first prototype might also fall into this category, but over time there have been some surprising announcements about the Cybertruck. So Tesla shot him with a gun and then drove on public roads. Maybe to show how safe the car is.

Or another promotional video highlighting the Cybertruck’s power capabilities. This means the truck can host your next getaway from civilization. These are all interesting aspects of Cybertruck, but the groundwork must first be in place before such impressive promises can be made.

Problems in the field

But even after the “release” of Cybertruck, when only a few buyers received the model, the problems did not go away. Several videos show the car having problems on off-road tracks. In one video you can see how a Cybertruck gets stuck on a snowy hill.

Most people can chalk this up to bad tires or bad weather. But apparently problems also occur when the track is dry. The second video shows how the Cybertruck is forced to crawl up a hill.

High price for spare parts

If you want to replace parts of Cybertruck, your wallet can be dizzy. A new windshield wiper costs around 150 euros. After all, if you just want to buy a wiper blade, the bill will be around 70 euros.

Compared to other cars, these are outrageous prices that few people want to pay. In the end, Cybertruck drivers may have no other choice. As long as the Tesla Cybertruck is not available in large numbers, third-party manufacturers will not come up with alternatives.

Short range

Cybertruck testers also complain about the electric vehicle’s short range. Tesla promises a range of up to 547 kilometers on a full charge. In their first practical experience, some owners got a maximum of 330 km.

In addition, according to users, payments take too long. The charging process takes about 8 to 14 hours – with an official wall connector from Tesla, don’t worry. After all: on the supercharger at gas stations, Cybertruck drivers need to rest for a comparison of two hours for a full charge.

Disappointing work

Cybertruck’s processing is a major point of criticism. Users report, for example, that the tailgate of the truck is not small and rainwater collects under it. It would also be loud in the car, making long journeys uncomfortable.

In an event shortly before the Cybertruck’s first delivery, the vehicle also showed a manufacturing defect. For example, large gaps and poorly placed rear lights, such as Inside EVs information. Even Elon Musk complained during production that there was always inaccuracy in the Cybertruck.

Last but not least, some users are reporting rust on the Cybertruck. This is said to have happened just a few days after giving birth. This is a common problem according to workshops that have to remove rust. Tesla even had a special removal process for this.
