The highest ride ever – CorsaItalia

Fiat will present the new Fiat Panda sometime in the middle of this year. A little bigger and brand new. To make it clear that the current Panda is far ahead, Fiat is launching the Pandina, the safest and most advanced Panda to date. And to top it all off, production increases by another 20%. We were in Naples to see the new Pandina and at the same time we visited the factory in Pomigliano.

You read that correctly, the Panda, introduced in 2011, has been the best-selling car in Italy for almost ten years and sales continue. Thousands of copies are sold every month (!) and since demand cannot be met at the moment, production will increase immediately by 20%. Fiat Panda is and remains the market leader in Italy and the European segment leader with a total of 8 million Pandas sold!

But what we see here is not Panda but Pandina, a name that is a favorite word for Panda. Many people have affectionately referred to their ‘Pandina’ for decades when talking about their Panda and now it has become the official name.

Pandina is equipped with new ADAS, new digital dashboard and new steering wheel. Things like ‘Drowsy Driver Detection’, ‘lane assist’ and ‘Advanced Emergency Warning System’ are standard. This makes this special series the safest and most technologically advanced Panda ever. Traffic Sign Recognition is also included; which detects and identifies traffic signs and displays them on the new 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The new cruise control maintains the set speed from a speed of 30 km / h without the driver touching the accelerator pedal. Auto High Beam automatically adjusts the brightness to the traffic conditions, making night driving easier for the driver. Finally, six airbags complete the standard safety equipment. Many functions are controlled by a camera mounted on the interior mirror.

In addition to this special Panda, the regular Panda will also remain available at this time. Our guess: When the new Panda becomes available, only this Panda will be available as a ‘classic’ model.

In terms of appearance, Panda can be recognized by special important details. For example, there are special markings on the wheel center covers of the alloy wheels (do you recognize the Panda?), there are yellow details and the Pandina motif is used on the small rear window. The interior is also a mix of black, white and yellow details.

In addition to the existing body colors – Gelato White, Cinema Black, Passione Red and Italia Blue – Fiat Pandina is also available in the new Positano Yellow and in two-tone versions with a contrasting black roof.
The new Pandina special edition of the Fiat Panda will be available from this summer.
