The new DS 7 Crossback will no longer be produced in Mulhouse

The DS 7 Crossback has been on the market for four years and will soon be redesigned, but the first French brand is already working on its successor. The second generation of the compact SUV will debut in 2025. The changes will be big. They care about the exterior appearance, the drive system and even the place of production. The meeting will no longer take place at the Mulhouse factory, but in Melfi, Italy.

Stellantis plans to expand models in its production facilities. The factory in Mulhouse, France, will be dedicated entirely to the family Peugeot 308, which will be joined by the Cross edition next year. The first preparations are already underway on the routes connecting the station. Stellantis also intends to move the DS 7 Crossback to the Melfi, Italy plant, which currently produces the Jeep Renegade, Compass and Fiat 500X.

In the coming years, the Italian plant will produce four models. One of them will be the second body mentioned DS 7 Crossback, and for others, there is no official news yet. However, some rumors appeared in the media. In addition to the small SUV, the new model of Lancia, Opel Manta, which should cross, and the second car of DS Automobiles with the internal number D85 will be possible to collect. According to the French newspaper, in the last case it is a combination of a 5-door coupé and an SUV. The model will take place in the list between DS 4 and DS 7 Crossback. The first match is scheduled for 2024.

All four cars will be built on the same platform, which will be launched with the new generation Peugeot 3008 at the end of 2023. The architecture will allow the installation of a hybrid and electric drive as well as efficient batteries with a capacity of 87 and 104 kWh, which will enable the electric version to travel to 400 km or 700 km in one charge. The appearance of the SUV remains a secret, but the designers will certainly try to transport in some characteristic elements from the DS Aero Sport Lounge concept.
