Peugeot has just confirmed the launch of five new electric cars by 2025, including the new generation Peugeot 3008. In addition to them, the brand will also invest in the development of hybrid cars. The new launch is part of the so-called “E-Lion Project”, a new strategic plan for the electric power brand.

Peugeot announces the arrival of the new electric 3008 and 4 more models

Peugeot has revealed details of its new electrification initiative, the “E-Lion Project”. According to what was announced by the manufacturer in Europe, later this year all models of the brand will have electric versions, either hybrid or electric.

From 2025, the brand will have at least one 100% electric model in all areas where it operates. By 2030, every Peugeot sold in Europe will be fully electric.

And it is through this project that the brand will launch a new electric version 3008. It will be announced in the second half of 2023 and will represent the beginning of the brand’s new generation of SUVs.

The new E-3008 will have a range of 700 kilometers and will be powered by three electric motors, including two. Additionally, it will be the first model to be launched on the STLA Medium, the new generation of the Stellantis electric vehicle platform.

The brand claims that the 7-seater SUV E-5008 is coming soon, however, it did not reveal the date. In this case, the model will also be developed on the same basis and may have the same various data, with minor differences, considering the weight and aerodynamics of the models.

Regarding the STLA platform, along with the development of new electric vehicles, new technology from Stellantis (the automotive group of which Peugeot is a part) is also responsible for improving design features. The new models will feature proportions with a focus on interior space and unprecedented driving dynamics.

In addition to SUVs, the automaker will also present the E-308 (hatch), E-308 SW (wagon) and E-408 (coupe SUV) in the next two years, completing the offensive of five new electric models. It is worth remembering that The new generation Peugeot 408 has already been registered in Brazil and can be seen in an electrified variant.

It was also revealed that the E-308 and E-308 SW will be powered by a new electric motor, which will produce 156 hp (115 kW) and will have a range of over 400 km (WLTP cycle).

The hybrid is not left out

In addition to the new Peugeot 3008 and four new electric models, the E-Lion Project also opens up a new category: the development of hybrid vehicles. The brand revealed that it will also introduce a new MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) hybrid technology, that is, familiar hybrid vehicles with a 48V system.

The technology will be applied to six models later this year: 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008 and 408. Associated with the new powertrain will be a 6-speed dual-mode electric transmission (E-DCS6), which includes a electricity. engine (21 kW).

Thanks to the battery that does not recharge while driving, the models will have an improvement in efficiency, reducing up to 15% of fuel consumption.
