Especially enhanced with a V8 engine: the new Cayenne GTS models

Porsche completes the deeply revised Cayenne series in 2023 with new models, especially the active GTS. The SUV and coupé combine a 368 kW (500 hp) V8 biturbo engine and chassis systems designed for performance with a high level of everyday practicality, distinctive design features and improved standard equipment.

In Porsche, the abbreviation GTS stands for “Gran Turismo Sport” with an additional sports segment and perfect for long distances. The Cayenne’s primary character is a dynamic sports car and off-road SUV. For GTS models, this balance usually shifts towards increased road performance. The new Cayenne GTS continues this principle with dynamic driving, sporty tuning and a unique design while offering unlimited suitability for everyday use.

Chassis technology from the Cayenne Turbo GT

A precisely tuned, GTS-specific chassis and a ten-millimeter lowering of the body bring significant innovation to the Cayenne GTS. Porsche now equips it as standard with adaptive air suspension including active damping control PASM and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). All chassis components and control systems such as Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) are specially designed for high road performance.

The two-valve damper technology enables very quick responses and, thanks to the two-chamber spring, an impressive level of sportiness as well as a high level of driving comfort. The pivot beams on the front axle of the Cayenne GTS models come from the Cayenne Turbo GT (not available in Europe). They increase the negative camber of the wheels by 0.58 degrees compared to other Cayenne models. The result is direct cornering behavior and exceptional lateral dynamics.

30 kW (40 HP) more powerful and more efficient than the previous model

In addition to the special chassis, the charming eight-cylinder engine is another important feature of the Cayenne GTS. The four-liter V8 biturbo engine, developed by Porsche and manufactured in Zuffenhausen, has been extensively modified technically. The result is improved efficiency and a significant increase in performance: the engine now produces 368 kW (500 hp). This corresponds to a performance increase of 30 kW (40 hp) compared to the direct predecessor model. Maximum torque is 660 Nm – an increase of 40 Nm. The revised eight-speed Tiptronic S significantly improves driving performance through short reactions and shift times in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Together, these measures give the four-door sports car incredible performance. The new Cayenne GTS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 275 km / h. As a further technical innovation, the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) transfer case has an independent water cooling circuit. The GTS also uses this technology from the high-performance Turbo GT model. It enhances the long-term load capacity – for example on circuits or on hilly mountain paths.

Design and materials in a unique GTS style

The GTS model from Porsche can be recognized throughout the model series for its free and sporty design. These include black GTS lettering on the sides and rear, a special front fascia with large cooling air intakes, darkened headlights and taillights as well as red brake calipers. Porsche reinforces this design DNA with fundamental innovations: body parts included in the standard Sports Design package, such as the sill panels, front fascia inserts, side window moldings and wheel arch extensions, are now complete in black gloss. On earlier GTS models, some of these body parts were painted in the car’s color. The black tailpipes of the sports exhaust system on the previous model, on the other hand, are in a dark bronze tone. Porsche also completes the design portfolio of GTS models with 21-inch wheels painted in anthracite gray in the RS Spyder model.

Porsche equips the interior of the Cayenne GTS with a heated GT sports steering wheel as standard. High quality Race-Tex materials can also be found in many areas. Suede-like fabric covers the roof, armrests and door panels as well as the center panels of the eight-way adjustable sports seats. Their raised side pillars provide more lateral support when cornering. For further customization, Porsche offers two alternative, GTS-specific interior packages in carmine red or neo gray (not at the start of sales).

A New Driver Experience with ambient lighting and surround sound

The new GTS models benefit from the Cayenne’s recent major product upgrades, which include, among other things, the new Porsche Driver Experience and the standard digital instrument cluster in a curved design with an optional passenger display. In addition to the Sports Design package, the HD Matrix headlights are darkened and the air suspension, there are also works of old Bose.® Surround sound system and ambient lighting. The Cayenne GTS Coupé also has a fixed glass roof and an extendable rear spoiler as standard. If desired, the level of sportiness of the coupe can be increased even further: You can choose from a sports exhaust system and centrally arranged tailpipes in dark bronze as part of three different light sports packages. These also include a lightweight roof and rear diffuser made of carbon as well as reduced insulation. Depending on the equipment, the lightweight packages reduce the vehicle’s weight by up to 25 kg.
