Beveren

The Volvo De Keulenaer garage in Beveren received thieves on Tuesday morning. “The trophies were small, about a hundred euros,” manager Lieven De Keulenaer says. “It’s the first time thieves have visited us, I hope it will only be once.”

Tuesday morning around 4:30 a.m. a masked man entered the garage yard. He forced open the sliding door at the back of the building and found a way to the office. Everything was caught by a security camera. “Our alarm went off, but that didn’t stop him. He only stayed for a few minutes, but immediately he knew he was supposed to be there,” says the manager. “On the desk he found a little money, about one hundred euros. The damage he caused is greater than the loot,” he says while sighing.

Preventive warning

The garage transferred the images to the police who are conducting further investigations. “He was not identified in the photo, but we hope the police will still find traces of the criminal,” says De Keulenaer. Moreover, it is not the first time that a garage in the area has been affected by theft. Local police confirm that the garage is currently popular with thieves. “We are currently investigating this and our patrols are carrying out additional checks in the garage,” says a spokesman for the Waasland-Noord regional police. “We also visit them as a precaution to warn them. This way they can take precautions if necessary.”

The first time

The Volvo De Keulenaer garage also received this warning two months ago. “However we became victims. Dirty feeling,” says the manager. “By the way, this is the first time for theft here. Cash is hard to come by here, everyone pays by card these days. I hope it stays just this once.”
