This is the real Mercedes EQB model

Electric cars generally use more than the manufacturers say. The result is a slightly better range than you might expect. This time we test the Mercedes EQB driving range.

The difference in the specified WLTP range and the actual range is large for some vehicles. For this reason, Autovisie tests the actual average driving level in practice with the air conditioning and radio on. This way you know better how far you can go with an EV.

Mercedes EQB

Autovisie runs Mercedes EQB as 250+. This means that there is a 190 hp electric motor on the front axle. The engine is connected to a battery pack with a net capacity of 70.5 kWh. The total capacity of the battery is 73.9 kWh.

On paper, the Mercedes EQB consumes 15.4 kWh per 100 km. This would give the EV a range of 527 km. What does this leave in practice?

Actual frequency

During the ecorun we see that the Mercedes EQB reaches a consumption of 16.3 kWh per 100 km, with the car in economy mode. We managed a distance of 433 km. In the middle of summer the range will be close to 500 km.

Usage and environment Mercedes-Benz
Average WLTP consumption (kWh/100 km) 15,4
Measured consumption (kWh/100 km) 16,3
Electric range WLTP (km) 527
Measured distance (km) 433
Max. charging speed measurement (kW) 104
Payment time 10-80% (min.) 35

When a DC charging station is plugged into the navigation system, the Mercedes EQB automatically charges its battery. This allows the car to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes. He charged about 100 kW between 10 and 65 percent and then decreased to 71 kW at 70 percent and 54 kW at 80 percent. A flat charge curve that sometimes reached 104 kW . That’s slightly more than the 100 kW that Mercedes specifies.

A type of experiment

Autovisie tests the application independently in the Netherlands during the Autovisie double test. Please note that the usage may vary because it depends on your driving style, but also on the weather and many other factors.
