an extreme version of OCTA is coming in July

An OCTA version of the Land Rover Defender will arrive. The brand has confirmed the July 3 date by revealing a new image.

Land Rover will show the Defender OCTA to the public on July 3. This is the final version representing the top range of the British cruiser. The English company has also published a series of new teaser images of the powerful all-terrain vehicle.

Guardian of all extremes?

Land Rover is going all out on the future Defender OCTA. The brand also invited potential customers to events around the world to try out the new promoter. As always, the Defender is already one of the most capable and luxurious cars on the market. But the new version of OCTA promises to take performance to another level. Those looking to place an order can already register to attend one of the seven Defender Features events taking place. These will be held in the UK, Germany, Italy, USA, Dubai and Japan. Invited customers will get early access to the new Extreme Defender.
Customers will also be able to configure and order their own “OCTA” models at these events. And all should get what they pay for. Indeed, the attempts made to develop the Defender OCTA were different. British Society it claims its engineers performed more than 13,960 additional tests compared to Defender’s baseline test program. Including handling and durability tests on the Nordschleife, but also tests on wet asphalt in Ladoux, France, tests on ice in Sweden. Land Rover even went on raids in the sandy desert of Dubai and on the rocks of Utah.

What we already know about this athlete

At the heart of the Defender OCTA will be a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. This unit, with a limited hybrid system, is already under the Range Rover lineup. Unlike the previous Defender V8 which had a 5.0 liter V8. This engine will produce 635 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. This will give it a good advantage over the Defender V8 which “only” has 575 horses and 700 Nm of torque. Land Rover’s advanced ‘6D Dynamics’ suspension system will also be standard on this version of the Defender. These setups do away with traditional anti-roll bars and feature air springs with hydraulic reticulation shock absorbers with electro-hydraulic valves…
In short, better technology. Results? Excellent handling and excellent off-road wheel travel. As part of Defender OCTA’s teaser campaign, A new video has been published. This captures some of the experiments carried out over the past three years. In the clip, we see Land Rover’s new adventurer tackling all kinds of steep terrain. Best for lovers, we also get to hear the V8 working.
