Fact: Pedercini Kawasaki is also absent from the Assen / Superbike World Championship

The third meeting of the 2024 World Superbike Championship takes place in Assen in a week and once again the Kawasaki team of Pedercini Racing and Isaac Vinales will be missing.

Since 1998, the Pedercini Racing Superbike team has missed only three Superbike events: team boss Lucio Pedercini predicted two events abroad at the start of the 2023 season for cost reasons, as well as the final in Jerez, which was scheduled as alternative to Argentina.

After the end of the season, the 51-year-old announced that he would only skip the expensive trip to Phillip Island/Australia in 2024. Three months later, Pedercini was also forced to cancel a test and race weekend in Barcelona, such as Assen.

Although there was little hope that the venerable Italian team would still make it, the official entry list brought confirmation: As in the first two events of the season, the same 23 pilots will be on the starting grid at the TT Circuit from April. 19 to 21.

“Our budget changed just a few weeks before the second event in Catalonia,” Pedercini said. “This does not prevent our participation in the 2024 World Superbike Championship, but I think it is right to take the necessary time to strengthen our team not only from a technical point of view, but also in terms of our structure.”

The team working from Volta Mantovana would love it, because Pedercini is a piece of superbike history. No other team has been in the motorcycle world championship consecutively for longer.
