Well, Hennessey pictures might be there too, but the Chevrolet Trailblazer SS from Thomas Hatcher is more American. Not only is it an SUV, it has a four-digit power rating and might just be the craziest smoke machine in the world. You can see that at the end of the video below.

First about the Trailblazer SS. The original car was a piece of theater for the American car industry and a performance answer to SUVs from Germany. In addition, it is a way to install older SUVs, such as the GMC Hurricane. Check it out right away.

John Heinricy, who now works for Hennessey, built the Trailblazer SS at the Nürburgring during GM’s relationship with the track. The Trailblazer SS received all-wheel drive and could go from 0 to 100 km/h in more than five seconds. That was no easy feat in 2006 with a 2,100kg family car.

The owner completely modified his car himself, without a prior plan. The four-wheel drive was lost because it is too difficult to operate. Instead, power went to the rear wheels. Hatcher once put his Trailblazer on the dyno. This showed that the Chevy was producing 1,000 horsepower at 5,000 rpm.

Top Gear presenter and part-time lucky guy Rob Dahm sits behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Trailblazer. You can see what he thinks about the SUV with the 6.0 liter V8 engine below. Without revealing too much, the tuned Chevy seems to drive very comfortably. Don’t forget to watch the smoke show at the end of the video.
