updated German icon and features

Since it appeared on the world’s roads in 1991, the Opel Astra has become an icon. Now, with the arrival of its sixth generation, the Astra has been completely updated, while retaining the essence that made it so popular. The new Astra 2024 was born on the Stellantis EMP2 platform, the same one used by the Peugeot 308 and DS4, but developed by Opel technicians to ensure a unique driving experience. Its dimensions, with a length of 4.37 meters, a width of 1.86 meters and a height of 1.44 meters, make it perfect for the C-section.

External design

The exterior design of the new Astra follows the latest stylistic directives of the Rüsselsheim company. The Vizor’s black front grille forms a single continuous surface with the Intellilux Pixel LED lights, capable of controlling 168 LED segments to ensure optimal visibility without blinding other drivers. The front bonnet features a large central rib, now a standard Opel design feature. The sides have a high beltline and clean, classic surfaces, while rounded wheel arches on 18-inch wheels with 225/40 tires give the car a sporty and dynamic look. The different roof, with the two front pillars black and the rear one in body color, looks almost suspended. At the back, the spoiler includes a third light, vertical and sports look. Here we also get full LED headlights, while the logo in the center of the tailgate also serves as the opening handle.

Interior and technology

The passenger compartment of the new Astra stands out for its discretion and its decisive lines. The dashboard is dominated by the Clean Panel, which integrates two 10-inch screens: one for the instrument panel and the other to control infotainment and all vehicle-related functions. The system is easy to use and responds quickly and accurately. Below the central screen, the actual platform has three main buttons to navigate the screen functions, while further down we find the dual-zone automatic climate control platform, also with Intelli-air, an air filter that provides information on the quality of air in the passenger compartment. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is possible, as is charging smartphones without using any cables. The car has a full complement of ADAS, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and lane departure warning. There is also the EHUD, an advanced display that provides information related to ADAS, navigation and management of multimedia devices.
