New Citroen C5 Aircross from the factory… Russia. Where were the parts purchased from? | French.pl

The Russian Automotive Technology Plant announced today that it has begun assembling Citroën C5 Aircross vehicles at a plant south of Moscow, formerly owned by Stellantis, and the vehicles will go on sale from May.

In February, we reported that Automotive Technologies had ordered at least 42 parts from China to assemble Citroen models at its factory. The parts from China were manufactured by the Chinese company Dongfeng Motor Group, with which Citroen has a partnership. It is fully capable of producing special models.

“On March 27, assembly of the Citroen C5 Aircross crossover series began at the Kaluga plant,” Automotive Technologies announced in a special statement. “The cars will appear in the showrooms of official Citroen dealers in May 2024, but can be reserved already in April.”

Stellantis has no part or factory control. Imports from China to Russia increased dramatically after Western sanctions against Russia were introduced. Due to the lack of direct purchases, many goods – including cars – are sent to Moscow from China and India.

Automotive Technology did not say how many models of the C5 Aircross it plans to produce.
