Subaru Crosstrek, the successor to the XV was born out of a combination of creativity

Very similar but very different from the XV, the Crosstrek inherits from a model that changes not only the name it has sold so far in North America but, above all, the task of continuing to be Subaru’s best-selling and offering many new features.

The latest creation from the Japanese company can be considered the third series of XV if we limit ourselves to what the updated line suggests only with a cosmetic refresh. In fact, it stands out only for the large muscles provided in line with the third dimension of the grille, the lights, the large shield, the side protection that includes air vents to improve the flow of air around the car, as well. like rear spoiler stability. The changes do not separate the dimensions of the Crosstrek from its descendants as it is 4.49 meters long, 1.80 meters wide, 1.60 meters tall and has a wheelbase of 2.67 meters.

The new Subaru is based on a complex evolution of the SPG system and is powered by an unprecedented hybrid powertrain. It is less powerful than that of a continuously variable transmission. This system, although described as a micro-hybrid, works like a full hybrid, because it moves the car in a short time and emits zero emissions when the small lithium-ion battery has enough energy. The Crosstrek also gets an upgraded version of the comfort-enhancing EyeSight system. The latter uses new cameras that expand the range of detection of what is in front of the car, as well as one with extended side vision to increase safety and improve the performance of driving assistance systems. Additionally, it offers an array of nine airbags.

The metamorphosis is clearly visible in the passenger compartment which offers refined instruments, great precision of construction and quality upholstery. The environment is influenced by the design of the dashboard and the central dashboard is occupied by an 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen information display. The latter integrates wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a navigator that also includes the new What3words function, which divides the world into three-meter squares by assigning three unique words to each to identify its location. Added to all this is a lot of equipment starting from the entry level Style Edition which, obviously, increases with the higher Extra and Premium Models following the increase in the price list which goes from 39,700 to 42,150 euros.

In terms of power, the Crosstrek moves easily on rough terrain as the Subaru tradition dictates thanks also to 22 centimeters of ground clearance, while on pavement it is very easy to handle and equally reliable thanks to the continuous work of the all-wheel drive, excellent weight. distribution and a stiff suspension setup that nevertheless does not penalize comfort. A very good thing because the passenger compartment is insulated from noise and vibrations while passengers benefit from newly designed seats that reduce body rotations to a minimum. For its part, the electric train does its part for the balance of emissions and silence and, moreover, thanks to the electronic map that uses the electric motor, it offers quick responses and a driving feeling exactly the same as that of the XV that was 14. more powerful hp in Standard and Sport configurations. Despite the drop in power, it offers better performance than
