What’s new on the 2025 Acura MDX?

Introduced in 2001, the Acura MDX has always been a very popular model for the brand; it was even the best seller in Canada at one point, until the RDX beat it. While it remains sold in its 4e generation,Acura MDX 2025 benefits from a minor modification that brings about quite an interesting change, in terms of style and materials.

Redesigned structure

Acura has redesigned the front end of the 2025 MDX by adding a more aggressively designed fascia and featuring a grille with a revised diamond pattern. The slightly sportier A-Spec versions now share the same front design as the S Type, their 20-inch rims also revised.

The range-topping S-Type has not been left out with some changes including a slightly open grille to allow more air to pass through to cool the V6 engine. The 2025 Acura MDX S Type is also unique with a rear diffuser, quad exhaust tips and red Brembo 4-piston front calipers.

New infotainment system

For the 2025, Acura is correcting one of the main criticisms of the model. It leaves aside the popular touchpad that allowed the control of the infotainment system and bypasses the touch screen. It offers the same 12.3-inch display, but has been moved closer to the edge of the dashboard, allowing easier access for the driver.

Also new, the infotainment system uses new Android technology that includes Google car services. This system was first introduced on board the Honda Accord, and the manufacturer is gradually adding it to all its models.

Navigation is provided by Google Maps which is used directly in the system without the need to connect the phone. Google Assistant provides voice command functionality.

The MDX S model this year includes an all-new Bang & Olufsen sound system with 31 speakers as well as the AcuraWatch 360 driver assistance package.

What engine is in the 2025 Acura MDX?

In terms of the engine, there is nothing new under the hood. Acura doesn’t make changes. The versions, for the most part, use a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The engine is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and Acura Super Handling All-Wheel Drive torque vectoring (SH -AWD) is standard.

The Acura MDX Type S offers a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that develops a little more power, 355 horsepower, and produces 354 pound-feet of torque. It has superior Brembo front brakes and an air suspension with variable damping.

Acura also claims to have improved the car’s soundproofing, making the cabin quieter compared to last year’s model.

Is the Acura MDX reliable?

The Acura MDX is one of the models recommended by the RPM team. The model has always shown good reliability. The model has only had 6 recalls in the last 5 years, two of which affected the airbags.

Where is the Acura MDX manufactured?

Since 2022, the Acura MDX and RDX have been manufactured at Honda’s East Liberty plant in Ohio. Its design was produced by Acura’s design studios in California, while the 2 engines found under the hood are produced at the Anna engine plant, also in Ohio.

The 2025 Acura MDX will be released later this year. Details of the offers and prices will be known later.
