why is it so expensive?

why is it so expensive?

Kia Niro is one of the best sellers of the Korean brand in France. A success that can be explained mainly by the variety of engines offered in this model, with the option of hybrid, hybrid recharging and even 100% electric. On paper, it might even be Kia’s best seller in our country, except for one detail: it’s more expensive than the Sportage.

Kia has created many types of SUVs in recent years, including the Niro, Sorento, EV9, but above all the Sportage which is the best-selling Kia in France. A family of models available with electric motors for some, fully electric for others. It is enough to cast a wide net between customers and thus satisfy everyone’s needs. And in this small game, the Kia Niro is quite good.

The small Korean SUV is offered in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and even 100% electric versions. The first has a 1.6 GDi electric block with a power of 129 horses, the second uses the same base with a power of 171 horses while the last one has an electric motor of 204 horses.

Kia Niro more expensive than Sportage

The interior of the Niro has been updated, with a large screen designed for infotainment as well as digital instruments, standard or optional depending on the trims chosen. The entry-level version also integrates some driving assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and parking assist. Automatic air conditioning is also included from the first trim level.

EDITIONS PRICE

Niro plug-in hybrid 1.6 GDi 171 ch From 40,640 euros

But then, how can we explain that this Niro is not Kia’s best-selling model in France? Quite well because of its price. The small SUV starts at 33,790 euros in the hybrid version, almost 1,000 euros more than the Sportage. It costs 40,640 euros for the plug-in hybrid version, or even 45,690 euros for the 100% electric Niro. Regardless of the engine chosen, it is more expensive than its older brother, which offers better accommodation and better maneuverability, thanks to the Diesel units. So the Sportage could be a slightly better alternative to the Niro, despite the absence of a 100% electric version.
