12 hours Bathurst 2023: 28 cars in the IGTC season opener

(Motorsport-Total.com) – The 2023 season opener of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) is almost here. From February 3 to 5, the 12 Hours of Bathurst in Australia will be the first of five endurance races scheduled on the 2023 IGTC calendar.

28 cars have been registered for the 12-hour race at the Mount Panorama Circuit “Down Under”, 22 of which are GT3 cars. Last year, when Bathurst did not have a Pro class, the entire field consisted of only 20 cars. The Pro class is now included in the program again for 2023 and that has a positive effect on the entry list.

The 22 GT3 cars are divided into three classes and come from four manufacturers: Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche. The Pro class includes eight cars, including three from SunEnergy1, Craft-Bamboo and Triple Eight that took the podium last year.

Looking at the drivers, Valentino Rossi in the WRT-BMW with starting number 46 is the most popular name in the field. For the nine-time motorcycle world champion, who was recently called up to the BMW works team, it will be the first on the 6.213 km Mount Panorama Circuit with its huge height differences.
