Summary
The 2024 Acura MDX is the first three-row SUV for drivers who value athletic handling over outright luxury. The 290-hp V-6 engine powers most models and delivers plenty of grunt. Every MDX offers a fun experience for those behind the wheel, but that’s especially true in the sportier Type S trim, which comes standard with all-wheel drive, a 355-hp turbocharged V-6 and an adjustable air suspension system. Seating is spacious for adults in the first and second rows, but the MDX’s back row is only suitable for children. The interior design is classy and offers a good number of tech features but if you’re looking for sheer luxury and better materials you’ll be well served by rivals such as Genesis GV80,, Mercedes-Benz GLE-classand Volvo XC90. The Acura is cheaper than those alternatives though, so if you don’t mind the hassle it will save you a bundle and bring a more satisfying driving experience to your driveway.

Acura hasn’t made any changes to the MDX for 2024, so it enters the new year as an SUV for 2023.
Price and Which to Buy
Pricing for the 2024 Acura MDX starts at $51,500 and goes up to $74,695 depending on trim and options.
As driving enthusiasts, we are more interested in Type S in anticipation of his performance. But for buyers looking for a well-equipped luxury crossover without the sporty flair, we’d recommend the Technology trim, which has niceties like contrast-stitched leather upholstery, adjustable interior lighting, an ELS Studio stereo system and 12 speakers. and below. -speed forward and reverse automatic emergency brake.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The standard MDX is powered by a 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 that is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available as an option. The Type S Sport model is powered by a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and comes standard with all-wheel drive. Ours test drive the Advance all-wheel drive model and the standard powertrain revealed surprisingly nimble handling and incredible acceleration. When we sampled the Swe praised it for the same quick feel on the road and appreciated the extra power, but wondered if the model deserved the Type S badge. The Type S is faster than the standard model, however, and in our test, it needed just 5.5 seconds to reach 60 mph while the less powerful variant needed 6.4 seconds.
Fuel Economy and Real World MPG
The base MDX boasts EPA fuel economy ratings of 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway; The Type S is rated at 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. On us 75-mph highway fuel-economy, our all-wheel-drive A-Spec test car returned a disappointing 22 mpg. The Type S model fared better, returning 23-mpg results. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The MDX cabin has a premium look and feel, especially on the high-end trims, which come with French-stitched leather on the dashboard and porous wood mixed with metallic and piano-black accents. Acura has also given the MDX plenty of creature comforts, such as dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The front seats are supportive and comfortable and can be equipped with niceties like 16-way power adjustment with massage. The first and second rows offer plenty of room for passengers, but the MDX’s third row is still just for kids. While the interior is well-designed and offers plenty of convenience options, it doesn’t feel as luxurious as rival cabins Genesis GV80 or Volvo XC90.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The 2024 MDX has a large 12.3-inch infotainment display with a touchpad control mounted in the center of the dashboard, which we’re sorry to report is somewhat frustrating. A 12.3-inch digital gauge display is also standard, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, in-dash navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. An ELS Studio stereo system is included in the Technology trim with A-Spec and Advanced models getting a 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D setup.
Safety Features and Driver Assistance
Acura has been raising the bar more and more driver assistance technology for its vehicles, and the MDX offers several desirable features. The MDX’s warranty package matches those of rivals such as Buick Enclave and Lexus GXand both brands only cover the first maintenance visit while Acura covers everything for the first two years or 24,000 miles.
