The 2024 Acura TLX and Infiniti Q50 are luxury sedans that offer a lot of value in a premium 5-seat sedan with an attractive exterior.
Starting this comparison with the Acura TLX, this generation debuted in the 2021 model year, and the 272-horsepower turbo 4-cylinder takes it down the road with ease. The dynamic driving dynamics and exemplary build quality are some of the things we’ve loved most about our time with the TLX.
Moving on, the Infiniti Q50 returns to the 2014 model year, an eternity in the automotive world. Does it have a chance? Yes, this fast Infiniti sedan has a twin-turbo V6 available in two tunes and a curved body that we think ages well.
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of the Acura TLX and the Infiniti Q50.
2024 Acura TLX
The 2024 TLX is available in three trims: Technology, A-Spec, and Type S. Pricing starts at $46,195, including destination charges. The base engine is a 272-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base variant, and all-wheel drive comes with the two top trims.
Acura made a few notable changes to the TLX this model year. The front bumper has been redesigned, and the 12.3-inch infotainment screen is state-of-the-art, as is leather upholstery and wireless charging.
Acura TLX highlights
Excellent All-Wheel Drive: We like how Acura’s all-wheel drive hardware gives the TLX improved grip and agility when taking tight turns and corners, as well as better all-season traction. Standard on the A-Spec and S-Type, it adds a whole extra layer to the TLX’s fun-to-drive nature.
Built to last: You work hard for your money, so it makes sense that you want a luxury car to go the extra mile. The Acura TLX is known for its reliability and holding its value.
Speed Type S: Thanks to its 355-hp turbocharged V6 and AWD, the Type S is the performance enthusiast’s choice. Acceleration from standstill to 60 mph takes less than 5.0 seconds.
GPS-linked weather control: Do you want your car to control and make you comfortable in all kinds of weather? The GPS-linked climate control system uses a roof-mounted solar sensor and navigation system to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature. This clever feature is standard on the Acura TLX A-Spec and S-Type.

2024 Infiniti Q50
The 2024 Q50 enters another model year without major changes or significant updates. There are three trims – Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400 – and prices start at $44,200, including destination charge.
Standard on the Luxe is a dual-screen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a moonroof and a heated steering wheel. Infiniti also includes an extensive list of driver aids in the Q50 at no additional cost.
Highlights of the Infiniti Q50
Twin-turbo V6: The twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 remains one of the Q50’s best selling points. It is smooth and produces a large amount of energy that flows every time it is called. A 300-hp version of this engine is available in Luxe and Sensory trim, while the Red Sport 400 has a (you guessed it!) 400-hp variant. The mighty Red Sport also comes with adaptive suspension and improved brakes.
Common features: If you’re not a fan of ticking option boxes, then the Q50 might be your perfect luxury sedan. It comes loaded with features that will heat your seat, connect your smartphone, or potentially avoid a fender-bending accident. Some of the Q50’s many driver aids include blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera, rear cross-traffic assist, automatic high-beam headlights, cruise control, and rain-sensing wipers.
Aging gracefully: Having been around for a decade, the Q50 is far from the cleanest face in the luxury sedan segment. Its design is seven years older than the Acura TLX, but the Infiniti remains one of the best-looking cars out there. The fluid-looking exterior still looks sharp and makes several new rivals look silly in comparison.

Similarity
The Acura TLX and Infiniti Q50 have a lot in common in terms of price and overall specs. They’re also to be commended for not wooing customers with the many features luxury competitors routinely place in expensive option packages.
Conclusion
The Infiniti Q50 remains competitive thanks to its powerful engines and numerous comfort and safety features. But unless you’re feeling really bad, the Q50 is behind the times. The outdated infotainment system and lack of steering feel are two of our primary criticisms.
Don’t get us wrong, the Acura TLX is good but far from perfect. The touch pad control for its infotainment system is fantastic, and a simple touch screen would be the best solution. But compared to the aging Q50, the sharper and more modern Acura TLX emerges as the winner.
